Claire is an MD/PhD student in the SDSU/UC San Diego Joint Doctoral Program in Public Health. She joined CHEAR after completing the first two years of her MD program at UC San Diego, where she pursued her passion for eating disorder research with Dr. Frank Guido in the Department of Psychiatry. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Harvard University in 2019 and spent her first post-graduate year in Tokyo, Japan, as a Clinical Research Assistant with Dr. Kazuhiro Yoshiuchi at the University of Tokyo Hospital’s Psychosomatic Medicine Department. Before medical school, she worked as a Research Coordinator at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts, under Dr. Kristin Javaras on a neuroimaging study examining the neural and psychological mechanisms of emotional eating and binge eating. Her research interests include psychiatric comorbidities in eating disorders, cultural literacy surrounding body image and eating, and the role of social media in shaping body image. In her free time, she enjoys baking, aerial arts/dance, and discovering local cafés.
