Dr. Risbrough has a Ph.D in Neuroscience and is the Associate Director of Neuroscience for the Veterans Affairs Center of Excellence for Stress and Mental Health and Professor of Psychiatry at UCSD. She received her Bachelor’s in Psychology and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Risbrough’s research is centered on translational mechanisms and treatments of anxiety disorders using preclinical and clinical approaches. Her primary focus is to identify mechanisms of risk and resilience to anxiety disorders, particularly posttraumatic stress disorder as well as development of new pharmacological treatments for these disorders. Dr. Risbrough’s research at CHEAR focuses on the psychophysiology assessments and analyses of response to food cues before and after treatment. She enjoys playing with her young son, hiking, traveling and is somewhat obsessed with growing the perfect tomato.
