Josie is a Project Coordinator for the FRESH studies at CHEAR. She is originally from the Washington, D.C. area and is a recent graduate from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. During her years as an undergrad, she worked with Dr. Gearhardt at the Food and Addiction Science & Treatment (FAST) lab where she completed an honors thesis investigating the influence of positive affect on one’s food consumption. Josie graduated from the University of Michigan with honors, she majored in Psychology and minored in both Women’s Studies and Food Systems. Josie is particularly interested in mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression, and the intersection between mood disorders and eating behavior. She aspires to earn a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology to pursue a career in the mental health field. In her spare time, Josie enjoys going to yoga classes, hiking, and exploring San Diego’s wonderful beaches and farmers’ markets.
